Stavanger Kristne Grunnskole welcomes families who speak English and are yet to learn the Norwegian language. Stavanger is an international city, and we recognize that people come here from all over the world. Some of our staff members have been specifically trained to help pupils make the transition from English to Norwegian within the school system, and aim to make this process as fun and smooth as possible. Our school has a thriving international environment, in a safe and traditional Norwegian setting.

WHO WE ARE

Stavanger Kristne Grunnskole is an alternative to public schools and is the natural choice for parents who want their child to attend a Christian Norwegian school. A strong Christian foundation lies at the heart of all we do and teach. Our passion is to see pupils thrive in a safe and creative environment.

GRADE 1 - 10

SKG is a private grunnskole. The term “grunnskole” refers to the compulsory ten-year schooling period for children aged 6–16. We therefore accommodate pupils from the 1st to 10th grade.

SCHOOL FEES

SKG receives partial state support, which is not sufficient to cover all of the school’s expenses. This is why we ask parents to pay a school fee that equals up to 15% of the state rate. For the 2024/25 school year, school fees are 900 NOK per month (11 months). Households with an income of less than 3 G can apply for a reduction. Sibling discounts can also be applied. We offer a 25% discount for the second child, 50% for the third child, and 75% for the fourth child.

CHANGING SCHOOLS

Parents can freely choose to change schools during summer break or from the start of a new school year until the 1st of October. When changing from a public to a private school, parents have to apply for a place at the new school first. After receiving a positive response and agreeing on a start date, the previous school has to receive a written notice that the pupil will move to a different school.

For new pupils starting at SKG, we ask that parents request that important documents filed in the pupil’s name should be transferred from the previous school to SKG. This will make the start-up easier.

A written notice must be given one month in advance when changing from SKG to a new school. This means that school fees must be paid the month after the notice has been given. The decision of when the change should take place lies with the parent.
